Heavy Hex Bolt Description
Heavy hex bolts have a larger head than a standard hex bolt. They are used for bridges, highway, buildings and other construction projects. Heavy hex bolts work well with construction materials such as wood and steel.
Applications
Heavy hex bolts can be used for many different applications that include fastening wood, steel, and other construction materials for projects such as docks, bridges, highway structures, and buildings. Heavy hex bolts with forged heads are also commonly used as headed anchor bolts.
Hex bolt is a bolt with a hexagonal head shape and generally used in construction works of buildings, railways, bridges, factories, etc. The difference between hex bolt and heavy hex bolt is that heavy hex bolt has larger bolt head and head bearing area than hex bolt
Heavy hex cap screws and heavy hex bolts feature a large fastener head for distributing clamping load. These fasteners are used at high pressures and temperatures. Hex cap screws have a washer face underneath the head and are used in precise applications. Heavy hex head bolts are commonly used to make structural connections in buildings, bridges, and railways.
Heavy hex structural bolts are designed for steel-to-steel structural connections. Consequently, they are typically very short. The A325 and A490 specifications are not intended for general applications, including anchor bolts. In these applications, substitutions of A449 for A325 and A354 grade BD for A490 should be considered.
